Mars Area Middle School will hold an Information Meeting during Activity Period on Thursday, Oct. 24, for any seventh- and eighth-graders interested in participating in two upcoming science competitions.

The 2019-2020 “You Be the Chemist” Challenge regional competition will be held on Saturday, March 7. The annual event, sponsored by the Chemical Education Foundation and BASF Corporation, is a question-and-answer competition engages students in learning important chemistry concepts, historical discoveries and safety awareness.

The 2020 Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Middle School Science Bowl will be held on Saturday, Feb. 29. As members of the middle school’s Science Bowl Team, students will compete against teams from local middle schools, answering questions related to biology, chemistry, earth & space, energy, mathematics and physics.
