MAMS Activity Days
Purpose
To provide opportunities for students to meet and participate in special interest groups, committees or clubs of their choice at Mars Area Middle School.
Meeting Time, Frequency and Dates
Time — An Activity Day will run on the AM Activity Day Bell Schedule with homeroom (7:30 to 7:47 a.m.) and an Activity Period (7:50 to 8:28 a.m.) to start the day. All other periods average 36 minutes throughout the day.
Frequency — A consistent schedule is needed to run a successful Activity Day program. Mars Area Middle School will run an Activity Day on Wednesday or Thursday, every other week, and preference will be given to Thursdays. Sponsored groups, committees or clubs may choose to meet every Activity Day (Rotation 1 and Rotation 2) or one Activity Day (Rotation 1 or Rotation 2) per month.

Menu of Activities
Each Activity Day will have a consistent, published list of activities that students can sign-up for each Activity Day. Students are not required to sign-up for an activity. If students do not sign-up for an activity, they must sign-up for a quiet and structured study hall that will be assigned by grade and/or homeroom. The location of activities and study halls will be determined when we have a complete list of groups, committees and clubs that will meet on Activity Days.

Student Sign-up
Sign-up sheets will be generated for each activity on each Activity Day. Mars Area Middle School will educate students in homeroom on Activity Day sign-up procedures and the menu of activity offerings. Sign-ups are first come, first served. Students will have 1.5 weeks to sign up for each Activity Day.
