Mars Area Middle School will hold a “Penny Wars” fundraiser to benefit Homes for Our Troop, Wednesday, Jan. 15, through Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Students in seventh and eighth grade will be asked to donate pennies, bills or checks to earn positive points. (Checks may be made payable to “Mars Area Middle School.”) Donations of nickels, dimes or quarters will be considered negative points.

For every dollar donated, students’ names will be entered into a drawing for an opportunity to toss a pie in the face of teachers Mary Jo Phillips or Amanda Stavish. The grade level that raises the highest amount will receive a free drink and chips at the school’s Spirit Dance on Friday, Feb. 7.
