Swimmers Compete in YMCA State Championships

Several Mars Area students represented Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA (Cranberry Township) at the 2019 Pennsylvania State YMCA Championships, held March 22-24 at Pennsylvania State University’s McCoy Natatorium (University Park, Pa.).

In 13-14 competition, the team of eighth-grader Natalie Stasioski and three others took seventh place with a time of 1:42.44 in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of freshman Jacob Harsch, eighth-grader Leo Saver and two others received 18th place (1:43.62) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and 22nd place (2:02.29) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

In 15&Over competition, sophomore Abigail Scott took 20th place (1:11.83) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke and 20th place (2:39.52) in the 200-Yard Breaststroke. The team of junior Caroline Stamper, sophomore Abigail Scott and two others received 14th place (1:57.32) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

In 11-12 competition, sixth-grader Sean Muchnok took 14th place (1:18.86) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke and 15th place (35.62) in the 50-Yard Breaststroke.

2019 YMCA PA Western District Swimming Championships

Several Mars Area students represented Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA (Cranberry Township) at the 2019 YMCA Pennsylvania Western District Swimming Championships, held March 8-10 at SPIRE Institute Aquatic Center (Geneva, Ohio).

In 13-14 competition, eighth-grader Natalie Stasioski received 10th place with a time of 1:06.57 in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Eighth-grader McKenzie Van Iddekinge took 13th place (5:31.71) in the 400-Yard IM and 14th place (2:34.37) in the 200-Yard IM.

Eighth-grader Natalie Stasioski received 15th place (1:09.64) and freshman Isabella Pellegrino took 25th place (1:11.63) in the 100-Yard Backstroke. Eighth-grader Natalie Stasioski received 16th place (27.08) in the 50-Yard Freestyle.

The team of freshman Isabella Pellegrino, eighth-grader McKenzie Van Iddekinge and two others, received 14th place (2:10.78) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. The team of eighth-grader Natalie Stasioski and three others earned second place in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

Freshman Jacob Harsch took ninth place (25.72) in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 13th place (1:07.48) in the 100-Yard Freestyle. Eighth-grader Leo Saver received 12th place (57.17) in the 100-Yard Freestyle.

The team of freshman Jacob Harsch, eighth-grader Leo Saver and two others took eighth place (1:59.69) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. The team of freshman Jacob Harsch, eighth-grader Leo Saver and two others earned fifth place (1:43.53) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

In 15&Over competition, junior Caroline Stamper received 16th place (26.45) in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 16th place (58.98) in the 100-Yard Freestyle; and, sophomore Abigail Scott earned third place (2:36.80) in the 200-Yard Breaststroke. Sophomore Abigail Scott earned third place (1:10.14) and junior Caroline Stamper took 12th place (1:15.32) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

The team of junior Caroline Stamper, sophomore Abigail Scott and two others earned fourth place (1:56.82) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. Junior Hayden Silsby received 22nd place (1:01.48) in the 100-Yard Butterfly.

In 11-12 competition, sixth-grader Sean Muchnok earned fifth place (36.45) and seventh-grader Peyton Randall received 36th place (43.99) in the 50-Yard Breaststroke. Sixth-grader Sean Muchnok took sixth place (1:22.02) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

The team of seventh-graders Liam Quinn and Brady Spoores, sixth-grader Sean Muchnok, and one other received 11th place (2:03.04) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

The team of seventh-graders Liam Quinn, Peyton Randall and Brady Spoores, and sixth-grader Sean Muchnok received 13th place (2:21.58) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

Seventh-grader Brady Spoores received 21st place (33.93) in the 50-Yard Butterfly and 27th place (30.51) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. Seventh-grader Liam Quinn received 38th place (39.36) in the 50-Yard Backstroke and 46th place (32.00) in the 50-Yard Freestyle.

Seventh-grader Bryn Wilson took ninth place (1:11.53) in the 100-Yard Butterfly; 12th place (32.23) in the 50-Yard Butterfly; and 16th place (28.71) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. The team of seventh-grader Bryn Wilson and three other took 11th place (1:59.37) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

In 10&Under competition, third-grader Rocco Vanatta received 33rd place (36.87) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. The team of third-grader Rocco Vanatta and three others took seventh place (2:23.61) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.
