Mars Area Middle School seventh-grader Declan Abbey competed in the State “You Be the Chemist” Challenge,” held April 27, at Pennsylvania State University (University Park, Pa.).

Abbey advanced to the state competition after taking second place at a regional 2018-2019 “You Be the Chemist” Challenge in March. The annual question-and-answer competition engages students (Grades 5-8) in learning important chemistry concepts, historical discoveries and safety awareness.
