Eighth Grade Recognition Program Information

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Unfortunately, we are unable to conduct the Eighth Grade Recognition program in a face-to-face, traditional format.  I am happy to inform you that we have plans to acknowledge our students hard work and efforts in the middle school years.

The Mars Area Middle School Team is currently planning a program that provides a published document of awards, award descriptions, award certificates and a list of students receiving an award. Additionally, we will be developing a pre-recorded presentation/program that can be viewed by everyone. We expect to have each of these programs completed and viewable by the Week of June 8

Award certificates will be distributed during building visits to obtain students personal property and return school property.  Please note that a Building Visit Plan will be established based on Pennsylvania social distancing guidelines.  The date of this visit will be close to the last day of school.  More communication about building visitations will be sent to you in the weeks to come.

We will need your help with our pre-recorded presentation and slide show.  We ask that you provide a picture of your son/daughter during his/her middle school years.  We are looking for pictures of students at school, school-related events, or group pictures of eighth grade students.  Perhaps you could ask your student to share their favorite picture!  If possible, submit the picture in JPEG format and include the names of students in the pictures. Send your picture to Tanis Rose, Mars Area Middle School guidance counselor, at trose@marsk12.org.  Mrs. Rose will build the pictures into the pre-recorded presentation and slide show.

Thank you for your patience and support during these troubled times.  Please know that we will do our best to make the Eighth Grade Recognition program an enjoyable and memorable event.

I hope that you and your family are staying healthy!

Sincerely,

Todd J. Kolson
Principal
