A team of Mars Area Middle School students competed in the 2021 Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Middle School Science Bowl, held virtually on March 6.

The team of eighth-grader Carson Mahan and seventh-graders Levi Jackson, Naveen Jayaraman and Peter Wells advanced to the second round of the semifinals and took eighth place overall.

The students, who competed against 22 teams from local middle schools, were asked questions related to biology, chemistry, earth & space, energy, mathematics and physics.
