Several Mars Area Middle School students competed in the AGLOA (Academic Games League of America) “Propaganda” Academic Games, held Nov. 3 at Slippery Rock University.
Seventh-graders Grace Nam earned a certificate of recognition for remaining undefeated in the competition. Other participating students included eighth-graders Sarah Arnold, Julian Coquelet, Levi Jackson, Naveen Jayaraman, Grace McCarty, Olivia Miller, Eli Thoman and Clarke Wickland; and seventh-graders Soleil Herbst, Brett Kelly, Clara Lukasiak, Luke Reinhart, Elizabeth Schwartz and Brynn Williams.
“Propaganda,” a question-and-response game, teaches students to recognize the techniques of persuasion that are commonly used by advertisers, politicians, editorial writers, and in everyday conversations.
