Mars Area Middle School’s MathCounts Team competed in the 2022 MathCounts Midwestern Pennsylvania Chapter Regional Competition, held virtually on Feb. 17.

Seventh-grader Grace Nam earned third place and seventh-grader Brett Kelly took fourth place, both qualifying for the 2022 Pennsylvania State MathCounts competition, to be held on Saturday, March 19, in Harrisburg, Pa. Eighth-grader Levi Jackson received fifth place; eighth-grader Joseph Shebek, sixth place; seventh-grader Clara Lukasiak, seventh place; eighth-grader Naveen Jayaraman, ninth place; and seventh-grader Sophia Gourash, 14th place.

The students competed against their peers at other MathCounts Midwestern Pennsylvania Chapter-member private and public schools. The competition was held via the Art of Problem Solving website.
