Mars Area Middle School students participated in the 2021-2022 Pennsylvania Mathematics League Contest.
The school’s eighth grade earned a combined score of 139 and placed fourth overall in the region (Allegheny, Butler, Cambria and Washington counties). Seventh-graders at the school achieved a combined score of 112 and took 16th place in the region
In the Eighth Grade Contest, eighth-grader Levi Jackson earned 11th place overall with a score of 31 and tied for fourth place in the region. In the Seventh Grade Contest, seventh-grader Grace Nam took 15th place overall (28) and fourth place in the region.
In February, all Mars Area Middle School seventh- and eighth-graders entered the contest by completing a 30-minute, timed exam in their math classes. The goal of the annual contest is to encourage student interest and confidence in mathematics through solving worthwhile problems.
