Mars Area Middle School eighth-grader Mia Gratton competed in the 2022 USA Powerlifting Pittsburgh Spring Classic, held April 9 at Legends of Pittsburgh Fitness (Tarentum, Pa.).

Gratton earned first place with a total of 272.5 points in the Women’s Raw Teen I (14-15) division, setting four new state records — Bench Press, 126 pounds; Back Squat, 220 pounds; Deadlift, 254 pounds; and Total Amount Lifted, 600 pounds. She is ranked sixth in the U.S. in her division.
