Three Mars Area School District students competed against their peers at schools across the United States and in Canada in the 2021-2022 Mathematics League Contest.
In the Algebra Contest, Mars Area Middle School ranked 45th overall with a team score of 103. Seventh-grader Grace Nam earned a score of 24, tying for 238th place.
In the Fifth Grade Contest, Mars Area Centennial School tied for 64th place overall with a team score of 113. Fifth-graders Avery Harrison and Parker Joseph each earned a score of 24 and tied for 408th place.
Students may enter the annual contests by completing a timed exam in their math classes. The goal of the contest is to encourage student interest and confidence in mathematics through solving worthwhile problems.
