Three teams of Mars Area Middle School students competed in the 2025 Western Pennsylvania High School Science Bowl, held March 1 at Community College of Allegheny County — South Campus.

“Team Blue,” made up of eighth-graders Colby Doner, Aarya Raut and Lizzy Shaha and seventh-grader Siddhartha Senthilkumar, advanced to the quarterfinals. “Team White” of seventh-graders Piper Hartge, June Irwin, Andrew Moravek and Noelle Papik and “Team Gold” of eighth-graders Daniel Matz and Diana Wells and seventh-graders Marc Grap, Jack Llewellyn and Paige Place also participated.

The students, who competed against teams from local middle schools, were asked questions related to biology, chemistry, earth & space, energy, mathematics and physics.
