Esswein and Fenio were among a select group of middle school students from across the United States who were chosen to attend one of three 2017 AirCamp summer sessions.
Throughout the week-long camp, the students visited the National Museum of the United States Air Force and Boonshoft Museum of Discovery; toured Dayton International Airport and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Air Force Research Laboratory; participated in flight simulator training at Sinclair College’s aviation school; piloted an airplane at Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport (under the guidance of an FAA-certified pilot instructor); and more.
The goal of AirCamp is to enhance middle school students’ passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) fields by exploring the subjects as applied in aviation and aeronautics. For more information, visit www.aircampusa.com.
