Attention Parents - Middle School Bomb Threat/ Evacuation Follow-up

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

This message is a follow-up to Mars Area School District’s report of a bomb threat at Mars Area Middle School earlier today (Tuesday, April 3).

Upon notification of the threat, the District immediately contacted Adams Township Police Department and, as a precautionary measure, Mars Area Middle School was closed and all middle school students were safely evacuated to Mars Area High School, from where they were dismissed at the end of the school day. Adams Township Police then completed a thorough sweep of Mars Area Middle School. No device was found and police officials have deemed the building to be safe.

Middle School staff members will instruct students on retrieving their school and other personal items upon their arrival at school on Wednesday, April 4.

The District would like to thank our local police and other law enforcement personnel for their quick and diligent response as well as for their continued support of the District’s efforts to ensure a safe and secure educational environment for our students, faculty and staff members.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wesley W. Shipley
Superintendent
