On Thursday, Sept. 13, Mars Area Middle School will host Parent Curriculum Night/Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. Homeroom begins at 6 p.m.
You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers. You will be given a brief summary of the curriculum, student expectations, and an overall view of how the class operates. A brief question and answer session may occur. Each class will be ten minutes long with three minutes between classes.
Because our evening's format will be structured similar to your child’s school day, it is imperative that you arrive by 6 p.m. for Homeroom. Please be sure to know your child's homeroom number. During any study hall, you are invited to the commons/cafeteria. The guidance counselor and other key staff members will be in the commons/cafeteria throughout the evening to answer your questions.
Information packets and building maps will be distributed when you enter the middle school. Your child’s schedule will be distributed to you in homeroom. Middle school staff will be available to help direct you to your destinations. Please enter the middle school through the main entrance.
No Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held during Parent Curriculum Night/Open House. Parent/Teacher Conference Day is scheduled for Thursday, November 8th. Parents are encouraged to schedule individual conferences with any teacher by simply e-mailing the teacher directly or by calling the main office to have the teacher call you. Please contact your child’s teachers so that you may schedule a convenient time on November 8th between 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Open House Schedule:
Homeroom - 6 to 6:05 p.m.
Period 1 - 6:09 to 6:18 p.m.
Period 2 - 6:22 to 6:31 p.m.
Period 3 - 6:35 to 6:44 p.m.
Period 4 - 6:48 to 6:57 p.m.
Period 5 - 7:01 to 7:10 p.m.
Period 6 - 7:14 to 7:23 p.m.
Period 7 - 7:27 to 7:36 p.m.
Period 8 - 7:40 to 7:48 p.m.
Period 9 - 7:52 to 8 p.m.
*The middle school is on a 6-day cycle with computers and physical education meeting every other day. We will follow Day Two of the 6-day cycle during this schedule. Additionally, we will follow Term 1 of the arts rotation during this schedule. If you do not get a chance to attend a presentation with the physical education, computer or arts rotation teachers during this schedule, we encourage you to schedule an appointment on Parent/Teacher Conference Day.
IF YOU ARRIVE LATE, please report to the main office to receive your child’s schedule. You would then follow the schedule according to your arrival time.
At this point in time, all teachers will be present for our Parent Curriculum Night/Open House. In the event that a teacher is unable to attend, we will send notification through e-mail as we get closer to Thursday, Sept. 13.
