Mars Area Middle School’s FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club collected 632.8 pounds of candy as part of a “Sweets for Soldiers” project, held Nov. 1-2.

 

Students in Robin Kalpakis’s homeroom brought in the most candy, weighing in at 73.2 pounds, and will receive a special breakfast. The homerooms with the second and third highest amounts, respectively, were Julie Clifton’s class with 64.6 pounds and Christine Tumulty’s class with 63.4 pounds.

 

As part of the project, led by seventh-graders Katherine Detisch, Paige Ditson, Brooke Franklin and Addison Terzich, students were asked to donate leftover Halloween candy, which will be distributed to local veterans and military personnel through Sechler Law Firm (Mars).
