Members of Mars Area Middle School’s MathCounts Team participated in the 2019 MathCounts Midwestern Pennsylvania Chapter Regional Competition, held Feb. 2 at Grove City College.

The team of eighth-graders Lindsey Gourash, Alex Vedernikov and Cole Winstead and seventh-grader Teo Biaggini placed second overall. In individual competition, eighth-grader Lindsey Gourash took seventh place and seventh-grader Teo Biaggini received 10th place.

Other participants were eighth-graders Caden Empey and Noah Paul and seventh-grader Cooper Courson. Eighth-grader Madeline Wolf qualified as a school team member but was unable to attend the competition.
