Mars Area Middle School’s FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club and Service Committee raised $1,100 to benefit the American Heart Association as part of a fundraiser, held Feb. 12-15.
In return for a minimum donation of $1, students could have their photo taken in front of a Valentine’s Backdrop or purchase a coupon for a piece of duct tape to attach teachers Amanda Stavish and Christine Tumulty to a wall in the school’s cafeteria during a “Stuck for a Buck” activity on Feb. 15. Students who donated $10 or more received an American Heart Association t-shirt.
In addition, students hung paper hearts, decorated with messages thanking the school’s food service workers, in the cafeteria on Feb. 13. And, on Feb. 14-15, students joined in special games during their physical education classes.
