The Mars Area Middle School is looking for students to compete in the Southwest PA Regional Middle School Science Bowl, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. The Science Bowl is a competitive science event among teams of middle school students who compete in a fast-paced verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math.

Each team is composed of five students. There is a possibility of a second and third team being accepted by the National Science Bowl Committee…but we will not know this until February.  

The regional event will be held on Friday, March 5, at the CCAC South Campus. There will be after school practices to prepare for the competition.   

INFORMATION MEETING — An Information Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14, during Homeroom.

The first round qualifying exam will be administered on Monday, Oct. 19 , during Homeroom in Room 118. Teh Make-up Day is Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Room 123.

If you are interested in qualifying for the science bowl team(s) but are unable to take the exam on either day, please see Mrs. Winter in room 123.

The first practice will be Thursday, Oct. 22, during Activity Period in Room 123. You will be informed before this date if you qualify for the first round elimination, so that you may attend practices.
