The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires school districts in Pennsylvania administer the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in:
- English/Language Arts - to all 7th and 8th grade students. The Mars Area Middle School has scheduled the English/Language Arts Assessment for April 20-22, The testing schedule will be 7:50 to 9:35 a.m. each day.
- Mathematics - to all 7th and 8th grade students. Mars Area Middle School has scheduled the Mathematics Assessment for April 27-28. The testing schedule will be 7:50 to 9:35 a.m. each day.
- Science - to all 8th grade students. Mars Area Middle School has scheduled the Science Assessment for April 29-30. The testing schedule will be 8:03 to 9:26 a.m. each day.
The results of the PSSA will be reported to you as a parent/guardian in the Fall of 2026. In addition to individual student results, the district will receive subject area results that show how well our students are performing. School personnel will use the information to analyze our educational programs. Please encourage your child to take these assessments seriously.
Please read the attached flyers for information regarding cell phones/electronic devices as well as the answers to frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the Mars Area Middle School.
If you choose not to have your child participate in these assessments due to religious beliefs, please be advised that before each scheduled testing session you must:
- make arrangements with the school to view the testing material; and
- submit a written request
We will begin testing promptly at the start times listed above. Please do not schedule any appointments on the mornings of the testing dates and make sure your child attends school on time.
