Dear Parent/Guardian:
We ask that all parents review the following Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures at Mars Area Middle School. Please understand that these procedures are for the safety of our students.
Morning Drop-Off Procedures – 7:15 AM – 7:35 AM – Parents may use Area 1 – Athletic Entrance (Mars Athletic Complex) for student drop-off. At 7:35 AM, Area 1 will begin to close due to teachers/staff needing to report to homerooms, classrooms, and other duties. If you arrive after 7:35 AM, you will need to proceed to Area 2 – MAMS Main Entrance. Students must be in homerooms by 7:45 AM.
End-of-School-Day Pick-Up Procedures – Students will be released from school at 2:17 PM. ALL student pick-up vehicles will be staged at Area 1 – Athletic Entrance (Mars Athletic Complex). All students being picked up will exit the building at the Athletic Entrance/Exit and proceed to your vehicles. ALL STUDENT PICK-UP VEHICLES WILL BE RELEASED AFTER THE BUSSES LEAVE THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
- All vehicles are asked to patiently wait in line and proceed with traffic on the established route to exit the middle school.
- Please refrain from:
- leaving before the busses
- completing a three-point turn out of line and leaving early
- not getting in the pick-up traffic line and having your student meet you in an alternate location
Please make sure you clearly communicate with your student if they will be picked up or riding the bus every morning. If you arrive after the busses and parents are released, your student will be waiting inside the MAMS Main Entrance doors.
Because of an increase in cut-through traffic and to enhance traffic safety, Mars Area School District has installed a gate on the Mars Area Middle School access road at the southern end of the building, near Route 228 (see access gate on map). The gate, will be closed from 8:00 AM to 1:45 PM, Monday through Friday, when school is in session. When the gate is closed, all vehicles will need to access the building via the school’s main entrance located along Davidson Road.
Additionally, vehicles are not be permitted to make left turns from the Middle School parking areas onto Three Degree Road. Instead, vehicles planning to access Three Degree Road will need to do so via the main entrance along Davidson Road. The right-in/right-out along Route 228 will remain in place; however, that access point may be restricted or closed as construction on Route 228 progresses.
Thank you for your cooperation! At all times, safety will be our priority!
Sincerely,
Todd Kolson
Principal
