Mars Area Middle School Eighth Grade Recognition Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at Mars Area High School Auditorium. Eighth Grade students will be recognized for their contributions and achievements at the Mars Area Middle School. All parents, guardians, and family members are invited to attend the ceremony.
After the ceremony, students will go to the Mars Area Middle School for the dance. Only current 8th grade students at Mars Area Middle School are permitted to attend the dance. A shuttle bus will be provided to transport students from the recognition ceremony to the middle school. Students are not required to ride the shuttle bus. If students are not using the shuttle bus, parents will need to drop off students at the front entrance of the middle school for the dance. Student Council will provide refreshments and light snacks at the dance; there is no admission fee. Please arrange for your son/daughter to be picked up promptly at 9:30 PM.
When selecting attire, please keep in mind the following guidelines. Girls may wear sundresses, skirts and tops, casual dresses or dress slacks and tops. Boys should wear dress slacks, a dress shirt (a tie is optional) or golf shirt. We discourage long dresses, gowns or fancy party dresses for the girls, or suits for the boys. Also, shorts, jeans, tennis shoes, and t-shirts for both boys and girls would be too casual and would not be appropriate. We encourage all students to “look their best” and yet be comfortable for the dance. Refer to page 12 in the student handbook for the student dress code to ensure all attire is appropriate in length and style. Corsages and wrist bouquets are not necessary.
All 8th grade students will have a recognition ceremony practice on Monday, June 1st and Tuesday, June 2nd. Practice will be from 1:10 PM – 2:32 PM at the Mars Area High School Auditorium. At dismissal time, students will board the buses at the high school. All students being picked up by parents on those days will be dismissed from the Mars Area High School Auditorium entrance at 2:32 PM.
