Mars Area Middle School seventh-grader Zoey Miller was honored as a 2018 Pittsburgh Girl of Merit at the Girls World Expo, held March 25 at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square.

The honor recognizes exceptional efforts in community service and the leadership and inspiration that those efforts provide to other young women.

Among her efforts, Miller tutors her fellow students in English, science and mathematics; volunteers with Mars Robotics Association; and has also volunteered for a local church, making dry food packets that were distributed to the homeless.

In addition, Miller was also invited to the 2018 Pittsburgh Girls World Expo, which offers young women an opportunity to attend workshops, seminars, demonstrations and science exhibits as well as to meet women who are leaders in business, government, industry, the arts and more.
